Go With The Flow Commissions

"Shari-Beth Susskind is not only a talented artist, she is so wonderful to work and collaborate with. In 2020 I reached out to Shari-Beth to commision one of her signature resin paintings. I wanted to add a pop of color to my apartment and so we set out to create a 3 panel installation, each panel 30x30 that is entitled "family". Shari-Beth completed it in only a few short weeks, and regularly sent progress updates. She then hand delivered it to my apartment while offering guidance on how to hang it."

Resin Art That Leaves a Lasting Impact

“We have commisioned several paintings over the last few years. We love the design, and the combination of the colors Shari-Beth applies to her work. It expresses harmony as well as the joy of life."

My Story

In the span of 18 months, I experienced the heartbreaking loss of my parents, brother, father-in-law, and a close friend. Additionally, I battled breast cancer and found myself facing the empty nest syndrome. With an abundance of free time on my hands, I decided to delve into the world of art by ordering some art supplies. I believed it would serve as therapy and help occupy my mind.

As a personal trainer for 25 years, exercise was my coping mechanism, but I needed something more.

That's when I stumbled upon videos of people working with resin, and I was instantly captivated. I quickly ordered the necessary supplies and fell in love with the art form.

What intrigued me the most was the fusion of science and art that resin offered. By mixing acrylics, powdered pigments, and resin on a sintra panel, each painting I created became  unique, brimming with depth, color and shine. The glossy surface of the resin reflected light, adding an extra touch of brilliance to the artwork.

As I started hanging my resin art on the walls of my home gym, my clients began to take notice and started requesting commissioned pieces. The turning point came when my son's girlfriend, who is now my daughter-in-law, asked me to be a vendor at a trunk show in Bridgehampton. Being a "yes" person, I eagerly accepted the opportunity, even though I had never done anything like it before.

Realizing that I had a lot to learn and prepare for, I threw myself into the task at hand. Finally, the day of the show arrived, and I was filled with excitement and anticipation. With the help of my husband, we set up my booth and embarked on the day with hope of selling my art.

When the day came to a close, I couldn't hold back my tears. Not only had I created the art, but I had also successfully set up my art display and sold my pieces, all without any prior experience in the art world. The journey from ordering art supplies in February 2017 to participating in an art show in August 2017, despite never having pursued art before, was truly exhilarating. I firmly believe that my parents are guiding me through this artistic journey because, as parents, don't we always want our children to find happiness and fulfillment?

The term “resin” refers to a category of semi-solid natural and synthetic compounds that can be hardened into a highly durable plastic material. It’s this bonding ability that makes resin such a versatile material to work with for art and other applications.
